Ringworm is an infection caused by fungi that invade dead skin tissues, usually around the inner thighs, groin, feet, and/or toes. It can also occur on other areas of the body, including the trunk, hair, and nails.

Ringworm typically manifests as ring-shaped, reddish, patches that can also be scaly or blistered that spread uniformly outward leaving a circular patch of normal skin within the ring.

Ringworm is most often due to poor hygiene and/or too tightly enclosed clothing that can cause excessive sweating in the affected area. To treat and prevent ringworm, bathe or shower at least once a day, and change socks and underwear every day. If you use showers in public areas, such as in the gym, wear shower sandals to avoid fungal contact with your feet and toes.

Ringworm can also be a secondary condition associated with candidiasis. If so, follow the same recommendations provided under Candidiasis.

There are natural cures for Ringworm that do not involve the use of pharmaceutical drugs. They involve restoring the biochemical balance of the body, and making dietary and lifestyle changes designed to improve one's general health.
