Overview

Anxiety is a sense of fear and, in some cases, a feeling of impending doom. The term anxiety disorder refers to a category of disturbances that includes generalized anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, phobias, and obsessive-compulsive disorders. A panic attack is an acute anxiety episode that may be accompanied by sweating, shortness of breath, hot or cold flashes, heart palpitations, and other forms of discomfort. [divider]. [tabs]...

The accepted psychometric test for short-term (state) and long-term (trait) anxiety is the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory for Adults (STAI). We have measured the effect of Natural Stress Relief (NSR) meditation several times, with medium-sized groups of subjects, and found that the regular morning and evening practice of NSR causes a dramatic drop in both measured scores of anxiety, even in the first week. We publish these and other research results in peer-reviewed professional journals. NSR is a mental practice; it is inexpensive, easy to learn, and effortless to practice. For more information, see the two articles here on NSR or visit us at http://www.nsrusa.org.

I have had anxiety as long as i can remember but it got really bad after my son was born. for the longest time i didnt know what was wrong with me. I had gone through hundreds of tests to be told to eat more salt and drink more water when they eventually told me i had anxiety/depression. i tryed therapy but that did nothing. I have been on cipralex for a year now after being on two other medications before. i was fighting everyone on taking the damn stuff. I am just trying to find a natural way of curing this horrid problem. My depression is mostly gone. my anxiety seems better. but I am tired of taking pills. but without them i get light headed, dizzy, pukey, passing out, panic attacks 10 times a day. passing out while driving, chest tight, muscles ache and hurt feels like a semi truck rolled onto my chest, heart palpatations, not to mention all of the sleep problems and i could go on. I just cant stand taking the pill i so desperatly didnt want to take in the first place .. but unless i find a better way its better than living with all the pain and problems of the severe anxiety problems right?! I will be trying a new diet and some of the advice on this page. thank you for opening a new door for me to explore. :)

L-Theanine works and I can’t believe it’s not mentioned. It’s naturally found in green tea but you can buy it as a supplement to get a higher dose. I use now foods 200mg capsules. It works similar to GABA supplements but GABA can affect your memory negatively, especially short term memory and can give a niacin like burning sensation. NaturalCures, please look into adding this supplement to your list for anxiety. It also helps you get a good nights sleep but doesn’t produce a drowsiness effect.

Hi Jean-Louis, Thank you for your comments. You will find some great tips on relaxing, training to relax and ‘calming down’ on these pages. Fellow members have great advice that they have tried and tested. We suggest that you start with your diet, if you havn’t done so already take out all synthetic sweetners from your diet. the main culprits are Aspartame, Splenda and High Fructose Corn Syrup. Also make sure you do some cleansing of the body using chelation to eradicate and toxins and poisons that might be in the body.

of course you should do these under the guidance of a licensed health care practitioner.

    Hello Fellow members,

My name is Jean-Louis and I am kinda embarrassed to say that i’ve been a GIN and natural cures member for over a year now and that i’ve never been on this site before. But now I need all your help more than ever ? I suffer from OCD “so my psychiatrist says” and i’ve been taking prescribed prozac for over 3 years now and stoped about 3 months ago. Now i’m starting to feel the symptoms take over again and I can’t live like this and I refuse to go back to drugs. There has to be a natural cure for this. Please help me ???? Thanks again J-L

My anxiety is a challenge to manage. I did the research and found that L=theanine works very well. It is an amino acid, a compound of green tea. I like it a lot. I also find the Callahan techmique works well also. My anxiety seems to be the worse when I am pre menstral. I would love to if anyone else has tried this. I also use magnesium calm drinks.

In his Natural Cures book, Kevin recommends Dr. Coldwell’s stress reduction cd’s and Dr. Callahan’s thought field therapy as two of the most important products for anxiety and they are not even listed here. Heavy metals from mercury fillings is also a cause of anxiety and that is not listed here either. He doesn’t even tell you where to find the products he does recommend. This website is supposed to be the “ultimate source for natural cures” and most of the info in the book is not even here. What about that huge database of holistic doctors and reviews of those doctors? After you pay to join they tell you it’s unavailable.

Peace Family, are there any anxiety cures that address the issue of ‘fear of public speaking’, directly?

  17. Abarrett81 / January 31, 2011, 4:56 am
