I have a few questions. Can stem/live cell therapy cure this because it regenerates cells? Can intravenous chelation cure this as another choice to open blood vessels to oxygen the brain better?

Hi! My name is Melissa, my father and I recently joined your site. I would really appreciate your staff’s professional advice on this one. I had a serious stroke when I was 23 yrs. old. This was not from lifestyle/health, as I have always been a very active person-no high blood pressure, etc. I had no idea I had even suffered a stroke, the only symptom (night before stroke) was a severe headache. I still went on my daily run after work. Next morning, still had same headache, but got up, drove to work, but things seemed really “off”. By the time I got to work, my speech was very slurred. I actually DROVE home. My mom picked me up and went to my family doctor. He misdiagnosed me with Bells Palsey. After headache and vomitting would not go away, I went back for X-Rays. Oops…not Bells Palsey, but big black spot on my brain!! Went immediately to hospital, after undergoing numerous tests, they determined I had had a stroke due to a caratoid artery tear. I have no idea how this tear happened, but the tear was apparently being held together by a blood clot in my neck, I guess that night when I went running, it broke free and went to my brain. Anyway, after a week my paralysis in my face healed and after about 6 months, the tear had healed completely. Even the neurologist said it was a miracle, he had never seen a tear heal so fast. Anyway, I went back to work within 6 months of having the stroke, never went through any counseling or anything. I resumed my normal life, eating healthy, excercising. All was well until about 5 years later, I had a single grand mal seizure. I was put on Keppra. After about one year of being seizure free, I started decreasing my dosage until I was off it completely. Then, in 2010, I was on my honeymoon in Wyoming and had a series of grand mals. I was hospitalized pretty much the whole time we were there!! Imagine! I waited till I was older (34) to get married and this happens.Wow! I was put back on Keppra (higher dosage) and was ok until last year in August 2011, I had a seizure in my kitchen (started going around in circles while I was standing) My husband took my to the Hospital and there I had over 200 more seizures while the doctors tried to find the right combo of drugs. Finally, a week later I was released from Hospital and now it’s been a year and I haven’t had any more seizures. I am taking Keppra, 2000m. per day plus Dilantin (400m) per day. I am now 38 and am in the worst pain of my life. I thought it was probably side effects of the anti-seizure drugs, but my neurologist says that this is not a common side effect of most Dilantin users. He said we could try other combo’s, but I am scared to death to have to go through all that again. So..I’m just suffering. Total body aches and pain in all my joints. Sometimes even to the point of not being able to get up in the mornings. I wanted to write my story so you guys could give my your thoughts, professional opinions. I love life and don’t want to have to go through this the rest of my life, but am just scared to do anything. I would really appreciate your help Kevin and staff. Thanks so much, Melissa Ayers

Looking for Natural therapies for my 5 year old son, diagnosed with Epilesy. He is taking Trileptal and Keppra twice daily – and often a zombie. But his neurologist has given no options or specific treatments other than prescription drugs. Is there a practitioner in Eastern PA who has experience with treating children naturally?

    Dear Nathaniel,

The definition of a chiropractors works ir to correctly align the skeletal system so the body may heal itself and the nervous system can functioning properly. However, Epilepsy is a neurological disorder. I am epileptic and have been taking Depakote for 19 years. Any more than 2 days off of my meds result in grand mal seizures. However, during those 2 days I experience blissful vitality of the mind. I have found that emotional stress can trigger epileptic behavior. It should also be mentioned that I have in the past experienced depression.
But that all is the so what, right?
I was listening to Your Wish is Your Command and one of the things KT mentioned to dispel depression or feeling down in general was to go for a walk and focus on something far way. My knee-jerk reaction was, “B.S.!” , but I tried it anyway and I felt better. Weird.
Well the next part of this story has given me a jolt of hope about my epilepsy for the first time. I was not taking my meds for a few days and started getting some petit mal seizures, which are not bad in and of themselves but usually lead to the grand mal. I know that the brain can’t really tell the difference between reality and imagination so I imagined I was looking at a peaceful scene that was in the distance. IMEDIATELY my petit mal seizure stopped and I never progressed to a grand mal. This happened several other times before I took my next dose of meds and each time I was able to control my epilepsy like a light switch with my own thoughts.
Thank you, thank you, thank you Kevin Trudeau.

I was diagnosed with a form of Epilepsy as a child. The diagnosis said the Epilepsy is caused by a rare medical condition called a Porencephalic Midbrain Cyst. I was prescribed several drugs, one at a time. I have been on Tegretol, Dilanton, Phenobarbotol and Depekene. I’m sure there were others, but that is what I remember. When I was 17, I stopped taking all prescription drugs and began treating the condition using Meditation and Yoga. This seemed to greatly reduce and even at times completely alleviate the symptoms. I’ve been seizure free now for over 14 years and have been on NO prescription or non-prescription drugs of any kind. Recently, I’ve also started wearing something to alleviate Electromagnetic Chaos. This has even more greatly improved my health. Thank you so much for the work you do and the information you give people on Alternative Remedies!

My wife used to take tegretol, dilanton, and many more over the last 10 years. We put her on some different cleanses and tryed to find out some food alergies she was haveing. Since doing so we have taken her off her meds and she is seizure free for about a month now. We us skullcap, L-taurin, amino blends, and some night time teas to calm her mind through the day. So far she is doing much better than ever before with out the medications. Though you should always consult your doctor when dealing with these types of moves with your health. I am glad she is seizure free thus far!

Who do I write to to get some advice for my seizures ? Will somebody please help me?

  19. betterbyfarr601 / October 5, 2010, 3:42 pm

I have Epilepsy and would love to get off of my Neorontin & Tegretol . I’ve tried different times but end up having Grand mals every time. I’m a fairly healthy eater. But I know I still have some changes I need to make. I will not be able to afford everything that you suggested. I do a lot of Juicing (almost once a day). Either fruit or Veg’s. I’m still having seizures. What would you suggest I try next?
