Between 1983 and 2006, I had the privilege of working for a non-profit research organization with a mission to develop alternative and complementary pathways to good mental health. We were searching for the most common forms of mental and emotional harm so that we could both track and attempt to resolve these imbalances. It was common knowledge in the field of mental health that improper parenting practices caused long-term emotional harm. However, nowhere in my mental health training was there a single written word about the harmful effects of education practices. In fact, when I began to discuss the potential harm done to children in schools in mental health seminars, many people were upset with me. It was a matter of anger at the messenger because the message about the emotional harm incurred in the process of our schooling was more than some people could bear.
As a culture, we can be fiercely protective of our educational practices. We often celebrate them without discrimination or examination. In this two-part article, I will once again run the risk of being the messenger because I believe that so many people to this day suffer from the damaging effects of current education practices. All too many of us learned all too well how to sit obediently at our desks without acknowledging our natural needs, interests, goals, hopes and dreams. All too many of us still sit in silence, even today, and not speak up for ourselves or dare to reach for our greatest dreams for fear we will, once again, be punished for breaking the rules.

In the late 1970's, I joined with a group of educators and psychotherapists to find new, unchartered pathways to mental and emotional health. It seemed to us then, as it does now, that talking in the form of counseling has severe limitations. Talking can be very comforting if you find a therapist who genuinely likes you and enjoys your company. And truly that experience can be priceless.
But talking has its limits. If you had a problem with the brakes in your car, you would expect your mechanic to do more than just talk about your brake problem. Similarly, if you are suffering from ongoing mental and emotional imbalances, you need a solution that fixes the problem. In the spirit of the mechanic who opens up the hood of the car to find and fix the problem, we began a research effort to uncover and solve the sources of mental and emotional distress.
To achieve this goal, we defined a set of parameters that are essential for one to experience stable and long-lasting mental and emotional health. Among these parameters, and perhaps among the most powerful, is an inner sense of self-worth. Self-worth is the greatest gift a parent can give to a child. Yet, all too often, especially in busy, industrialized societies, this powerful gift is not conveyed. To experience inner self-worth, children must experience unconditional love.

Here's another great article on the dangers of Aspartame. These appear pretty regularly in newsletters and online simply because it is probably the 2nd most dangerous thing to your health right now (after prescription & non-prescription drugs). Print these articles off, send the links to friends and family and hope and pray that they get the message to avoid this terrible health hazard.

In the field of physical medicine, there are standards that are used in determining any treatment of choice. While, clearly, there are cases where these standards are overlooked or ignored, the general idea is to find an effective treatment for any given condition. The standards involve, among other things, repeatability, reliability and effectiveness.

If you are ingesting supplements to create a healthier body and mind, you need to know the facts about the supplement manufacturing process and labeling codes. Are your supplements healthy or toxic? Did you know that the binders, fillers, heavy metals and flow agents in your supplements are harmful?

On January 20th Pamm Larry had an epiphany, as she calls it. Why not have a GMO labeling law on the November 2012 ballot in California? She did her research, put a website together, and "came out" on March 20 - as a single voice with a big idea. Within six months, there were about 70 state leaders - holding events, showing films, recruiting support, and creating the framework for what may become the pivotal vote to usher GMOs out of our food supply.

This is the candid confession of Dr. Herman Koeter, head of the European Food Safety Authority, after resigning from the corrupted agency. His conscience got the best of him.
PICTURE THIS: A powerful multinational gang of criminals has been operating for years completely protected from prosecution by any enforcement agency. Finally the count of murders and maimings has raised a public outcry that can't be ignored, so a special government tribunal is charged to investigate the atrocities.

The Mayor of Santa Ana, California, Miguel Pulido, has issued a courageous proclamation in support of mercury-free dentistry on behalf of the City Council. The Mayor salutes the work of Californians for Green Dentistry (a project of Consumers for Dental Choice), and "support[s] their mission to eliminate the use of mercury in dental practices." He calls on all dentists in Santa Ana "voluntarily [to] cease the use of Dental Amalgam and switch to interchangeable, modern alternatives."

How do you convey all the vast problems with genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in a simple T-shirt? How do you depict the extensive health dangers, the irreversible contamination of the gene pool, corporate control over farmers and our food supply, the patenting and ownership of life, the enormous loss of biodiversity, the rigged corporate research, the continuous lies about how GMOs offer higher yields and will feed the world, and the long line of independent scientists who’ve been attacked whenever they discover problems—or even criticize the technology.

Do you feel guilty when you do something to take care of yourself? Do you hesitate to invest time, money and energy in your own well-being? Do you wait until you are desperate before asking for help? Guilt is one the most common, most powerful and most debilitating human conditions. As a former psychotherapist, I can say that personal guilt was the topic of many a session. From what I could see, more people suffer from guilt than they do from the common cold.

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT), whether natural or synthetic, is based on the incorrect assumption that your body becomes incapable of producing appropriate amounts of hormones simply because we reach a certain age. Your body does alter its hormone production as you pass through the stages of your life, but hormone problems are a function of how healthy you are, not how old you are. This myopic viewpoint has caused thousands of deaths due to HRT causing cancer.

We have a once-in-a lifetime opportunity to end the use of mercury amalgam, forever, on our entire planet.
The nations of the world are hammering out a treaty on mercury at five negotiating sessions. Two negotiating sessions have already taken place; the third, in October in Africa, is fast approaching. The seminal question: Will the mercury treaty phase out amalgam along with other dangerous mercury products?

Wrote Dr. James Bowen: "At every point in the fertility process aspartame destroys, beginning with the gleam in Mom and Pop’s eyes: it ruins female sexual response and induces male sexual dysfunction. Beyond this, aspartame disrupts fetal development by aborting it or inducting defects. And if a live child is born aspartame may have heinously damaged the DNA of the baby, cursing future generations."

In an extraordinary development that will change the global debate about amalgam, the United States government has announced that it supports a “phase down, with the goal of eventual phase out by all Parties, of mercury amalgam.” This statement – a radical reversal of its former position that "any change toward the use of dental amalgam is likely to result in positive public health outcomes" – is part of the U.S. government’s submission for the upcoming third round of negotiations for the world mercury treaty.

'Modern' medicine today is referred to as the "sick model" by most health care insiders according to Dr. Pat and Dr. Dan. It is also called 'surface healing'. Too many physicians and modern practitioners deliver this poor care in exchange for a lot of money and questionable results. This ineffective 'band-aid over a serious wound' is prescribed even when much les less dangerous and more effective wellness techniques are known. Alternatives to pushing drugs are rarely employed, emphasizes Dr. Dan and Dr. Pat.

A few weeks ago, colleague Dr. Russell Blaylock released an article on the possible association between aluminum in vaccines and breast cancer. Breast cancer may be associated in another way to vaccines, particularly flu shots: the presence of viral contaminants.

All of us have protective behavior patterns. Some are more costly to our well-being than others. All drain us of our valuable resources needed to achieve a happy and satisfying life. Protective behavior patterns are developed in the first ten years of life in response to adverse conditions in our families, schools and neighborhoods.

Have you ever heard someone say, "I'm sick and tired..."? They probably are, or will be! Chronic heightened emotional states create a perfect breeding ground for illness. In was through my practice with thousands of people that I noted the increasingly obvious relationship between one’s mental focus on negative thinking, emotions, resistance to experiencing feelings and disease.
