Description: Liquid cleansers designed to remove dirt, oil and makeup, and thoroughly cleanse the skin. Products that contain ingredients such as essential oils, which are known to be beneficial to the skin and provide natural scents.
What to look for: Look for skin care products which contain certified, organic plant ingredients that are biodynamic and grown using sustainable practices. Choose products which are eco-friendly and are not tested on animals. Ingredients such as glycolic or other fruit acid enzymes work well to exfoliate, brighten, and soften the skin while also delivering antioxidant benefits. Look for products containing antioxidants with nourishing properties such as vitamins A, E and C.
Uses: Cleansers should be used twice a day, once in the morning and at night. Follow directions on the label.
Where to find: Spas/Salons, Health Food Stores or Online Resources.
Avoid: Skin cleansers which are not formulated for your skin type. Cleansers without proper pH, because they tend to be very harsh and stripping. This may dry your skin and/or cause your skin to produce excess oil which can lead to breakouts and clogged pores. It is best to use a liquid or gel cleansing agent instead of bar soap, which tends to harbor bacteria and may clog pores. Do not use products which contain: artificial preservatives (parabens: methyl-, ethyl-, butyl-), synthetic scents/perfumes, colors, surfactants (sodium lauryl/lauryl sulphate), unpurified water with chlorine, petroleum based ingredients, parabens (methyl-, ethyl-, butyl-), or animal products.
